Pompey Ladies FC hit Plymouth Argyle for six in an emphatic FA Women’s Premier League victory.
With less than 20 minutes played, Ellie Bloomfield opened the scoring for the home team with a quality finish.
Sarah Kempson then doubled the lead by lobbing the Argyle goalkeeper, before the same player smashed in two penalties to put the result beyond doubt.
There were further goals from Molly Clark and Natasha Stevens, who headed in to complete the Pompey rout.
A miserable day for Plymouth was compounded when Jodie Chubb was sent off for the away side, picking up her second yellow card late on.
After the match, manager Perry Northeast said: “We’ve got some fantastic players in the side at the moment that are brimming with confidence, and they’re all eager to create goals as well as score themselves.”
While the Portsmouth men’s team play their home games at Fratton Park, this match was staged at Privett Park.
Usually the home of Gosport Borough FC who compete in the Conference South, Pompey Ladies also play most of their home games at the 79-year-old stadium.
As well as Gosport, The Blues have also played matches on the 3G pitches at Furze Lane in Portsmouth and Park Community School in Havant. However, Privett Park has proven to be a much more popular home for them among the Pompey Ladies fanbase.
